Abstract:
Why do we need ICT for persons with Disabilities in India? ICT revolution in all spheres of life from Education to Health sectors is seen in the world. We need to develop ICT applications relevant to Indian diverse socio-geographic-economic conditions especially to ensure persons with disabilities in rural /tribal and remote hilly areas get the benefits of ICT. We need hard ware and software ICT applications to meet the real needs of persons with disabilities in India.
Though we see a huge flood of hardware for ICT applications (Tablets, Smart phones, computers, remote sensing sensors etc.) we see a large shortage in the software applications relevant to Indian education system, work empowerment culture, Language and social practices.
